Ljubljana, 24 February 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, Managing Authority for ERDF, ESF and Cohesion Fund, has issued a grant decision for the project “Biotech Hub within the National Institute of Biology (BTS-NIB)”. The project worth EUR 20.8 million will receive European Regional Development Fund support in the amount of EUR 16 million.
The project will result in the establishment of a new high quality research infrastructure that will facilitate installing research equipment and thus benefitting from the development potential of the local and international environment and thereby supporting the economy. By fulfilling the infrastructure-related conditions the project will enable coping with the extra workload as well as cooperating with the business sector (medical biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, environmental biotechnologies, innovative interdisciplinary biotechnology companies). The project will also establish the relevant infrastructure-related conditions for the present operation of the future development of the Slovenian National Institute of Biology.
