Ljubljana, 25 January 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the project Renovation of the promenade in the city park which will be implemented by the Urban Municipality Maribor. The 3,6 million euro renovation project will receive a contribution from the European Regional development Fund amounting to 2,3 million euros.
The plan of the municipality is to revitalise the promenade area in the city park by improving pedestrian and cyclist safety, making the area a more open, safe and friendly place to gather and spend time, and, in turn more attractive for residents seeking outdoor activities. The renovation works will help render the park one of the top destinations in the city. With improved condition of paved surfaces, the park will also become more friendly and accessible for the disabled.
