Opportunity for companies and sole entrepreneurs: EU funding for district RES heating

Ljubljana, 24 February 2021 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has issued a funding decision for the “Call for proposals for co-financing district heating using renewable energy sources (code: JR DO OVE 2021)”. The total funding available under the call for proposals is fully contributed by the Cohesion Fund and amounts to EUR 16 million.

Under the call for proposals grants for the co-financing of projects of district heating using renewable energy sources (wood biomass and solar energy) shall be awarded. The financial incentives granted as state aid shall support investments in new district heating systems using renewable energy sources (RES) and in the expansion of existing systems.

The call for proposals seeks to finance projects aiming to establish district heating systems using renewable energy sources with a boiler capacity of up to 10 MW, expand the district network in the existing system with or without upgrading additional wood biomass boilers and solar hot water system, under the condition that the use of solar energy as an additional source contributes to improving the economy of the entire district heating system using RES.

Ministry of Infrastructure is expected to publish the call for proposals on Friday, 5 March 2021.
