Door to Pomurje – Region Promotion Centre

In 2018 the pavilion Expano was built by the Sobota Lake, namely by the A5 motorway exit (corridor Ljubljana-Budapest), which is the entry point to the Pomurje region.

The project results in the establishment of the pavilion which preserved the external image of Slovenia’s pavilion for the Expo 2015 show in Milan. Within the project the following activities were implemented: land acquisition, archaeological research, erection of the pavilion and the construction of basement facilities, construction of the ancillary facility, construction of road infrastructure, arrangement of the surrounding area, placement and purchase of interior fittings, establishment of production and the establishment of promotional and marketing activities.

The region promotion centre “Door to Pomurje” used the potential of neutral and brownfield areas of the urban municipality Murska Sobota to introduce activities that will boost economy and tourism of the municipality as well as the entire region. It is located on the banks of the tourist, sports and adventure park Soboško jezero. The pavilion is designed as a small Pomurje region and consists of four main sections: exhibition, tourist information centre with a small shop, inn and space for business use where a SPOT point will be established.

Several thematic points are located in the exhibition area which present the region from various viewpoints and are real a journey through time. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the Pomurje region, water of life, a flight above the Pomurje region revealing the secrets of the magical forest.
