EU funds for “diversification of schools”

Ljubljana, 29 August 2014 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for EU Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the programme “Promoting the implementation of programmes Diversification of schools in 2014 and 2015”. The available grants, which will be used in 2014 and 2015 for programme implementation, amount to 1.4 million euros of which the European Social Fund contribution amounts to 85 %, i.e. 1.19 million euros.

The aim of the programme, which will be implemented by the Slovene Human Resources Development and Scholarship Fund, is to ensure a maximum degree of response by teachers and other professionals in primary school to the individual pupils’ needs, and to strengthen the ability of schools to respond rapidly to the changes within the local environment. The programme promotes the use of new teaching strategies and forms of work, in the framework of which teachers will implement activities that contribute to the development of key competences: communication in the mother tongue, communication in foreign languages, mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology, digital literacy, learning how to learn, social and civic competences, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship as well as cultural awareness and expression, namely in accordance with the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council. By promoting such forms of work the schools will have the opportunity to focus on the educational needs of pupils, particularly children with learning disabilities, pupils with special talents, and to develop leisure activities in areas where the supply of such activities is limited. Activities will be implemented by teachers who will apply their knowledge through effectively undertaking and implementing new tasks. The implementation of the programme welcomes the cooperation of others, i.e. partner schools.

The aim is to include at least 70 educational institutions into the implementation of programmes which contribute to the development of core competences, and at least 2100 pupils, irrespective of whether they attend class in the main or partner school.

For more information please contact the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport which acts as the intermediate body and is responsible for the implementation of the programme.
