Ljubljana, 25 July 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for the EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the construction of the non-level crossing of the Ribče-Litija road and the railway in Zgornji Log pri Litiji. The value of the project, which in managed by the Slovenian Roads Agency, is estimated at over 9.6 million Euros. The investment will be co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the estimated value of over 7.6 million Euros.

The existing passage of the main road Ribče-Litija over the railway track (Dobova-Ljubljana) in the settlement of Zgornji Log pri Litiji is a bottleneck in terms of cargo vehicles meeting as well as the traffic jams due to the waiting vehicles due to the lowered railway gates.

The aim of the project is the relocation of the main road and the adjustment of the existing road in the length of 1,600 metres as well as the construction of the overpass over the railway track in the length of 160 metres, construction of the intersection for the settlement of Zgornji Log and the relocation of the municipal waters. Greater safety will also be achieved by regulating the cycling traffic, construction of the passage for pedestrians and setting-up street lighting.

The overall investment costs (project and investment documentation, purchase of lands, construction works and the supervision of building works, consultation services, unforeseen works in construction, external control of the quality and information and publicity on the project) are estimated at 9.6 million Euros.

The realisation of the project will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the settlement of Zgornji Log as well as ensure greater transport security and traffic flow. The project will also shorten the transportation time, decrease the noise emissions and reduce the damaging effect on the environment.
