EU funds for enhancing counselling to youth, unemployed and other jobseekers

Ljubljana, 8 December 2015 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for European Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a grant-award decision for two programmes, namely the programme “Enhancing counselling to youth by Employment Service of Slovenia” and the programme “Services for the unemployed, other jobseekers and employers”. The programmes worth EUR 19.4 million will receive European Social Fund support under the 2014-2020 programming period in the amount of nearly EUR 12.5 million.

Programme “Enhancing counselling to youth by Employment Service of Slovenia” aims to enhance counselling and increase access to the service provided by Employment Service of Slovenia in accordance with the programme Youth Guarantee with the latter aiming to improve the situation with regard to the transition from school to working life, speed up the activation of unemployed youth and reduce youth unemployment. The project will facilitate youth in their transition from school to working life and improve their qualifications with regard to accessing the labour market. The programme worth EUR 3.9 million will receive EU funds support in the amount of over EUR 3.1 million.

Programme “Services for the unemployed, other jobseekers and employers” aims to raise the level of quality and access to the services provided by Employment Service of Slovenia for its users (in particular for the unemployed and employers) which will enhance employability as well as improve the efficiency and intensity of the Service’s cooperation with the users of its services. The programme aims to strengthen certain key services provided by the institutions operating within the labour market with the objectives of eliminating structural disparities and improving the quality of matching demand and supply within the labour market. The programme worth EUR 15.5 million will receive EU funds support in the amount of nearly EUR 12.4 million.

Both programmes aim to ensure the provision of high-quality services by Employment Service of Slovenia by building capacity of Service’s advisors with regard to enhancing their competences for taking a more innovative approach to working with youth, the unemployed and employers, and developing and applying innovating approaches to addressing unemployment. This will enable provision of efficient services and counselling to youth, the unemployed, jobseekers and employers.
