EU funds for improvement of metrology system in Slovenia

Ljubljana, 25 February 2014 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for EU Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the project “Metrology system infrastructure – establishing regulatory criteria conformity”. The value of the project is 247 thousand euros of which the European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to a little over 210 thousand euros.

The project includes purchasing modern metrology equipment for establishing regulatory criteria conformity which will facilitate performing the tasks of ensuring traceability at a highest level. The new measuring equipment will also facilitate checking the capacity of the appointed organisations for certification – mainly in the field of measurements of petroleum-based products or for the certification in the field of measuring systems for liquids other than water. If needed, the new equipment will also be used to cover the new area of measuring instruments for volume measurement which is being introduced in Slovenia and will need regulation (this area is already regulated in a large number of the EU Member States).
