EU funds for Institute of Chemistry renovation

Ljubljana, 6 October 2014 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, acting as the Managing Authority for EU Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, approved the project “Renovation of the building of the Institute of Chemistry Slovenia”. Renovating 689.03 m3 of research infrastructure and purchasing new research equipment will ensure the provision of adequate workspace and safety for the employees which will, in turn, bring smooth realisation of scientific-research activity. The value of the project amounts to 1.7 million euros of which the European Regional Development Fund contribution amounts to 1.4 million euros.

The investment aims to provide the adequate research infrastructure within the public research institute. The overall renovation of the old building will raise the technological level of experiment and research work. In addition to enhancing the organisational level and the quality of laboratory work, the renovation of the institute’s building will enable modernisation of certain existing investigative methods as well as introduce new methods which will have an impact on raising the quality level of scientific-research achievements, improve the supportive environment for the economic sector and thus contribute to boosting the economy’s competitiveness.
