EU funds for Krško bypass

Ljubljana, 19 December 2013 – Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, acting as the Managing Authority for EU structural funds and the Cohesion Fund, issued a decision awarding EU funds for the project “Krško bypass from km 2,180 to 4,120”. The project, worth 11.4 million euros, is co-financed under the European Regional Development Fund in the amount of 1.85 million euros. The project reduces the traffic load in Krško and its historic centre and also contributes to the reduction of noise as well as increases traffic safety with public lighting and landscape architecture.

The project was aimed at the construction of a segment of the Krško bypass from km 2,180 to km 4,120 which represents a relocation of a segment of the existing main road from the right bank of the Sava river to the left bank of the Sava river. The investment represents a continuation of the construction of the Northern segment of the bypass which runs parallel to the railway track Zidani Most – Dobova to the existing bridge over the river Sava in Krško where it is connected to the existing industrial road which leads to the Krško Nuclear Power Plant.

The objective of the project was to construct 1,940 metres of bypass, 489 metres of noise barrier, rearrangement of the access road and intersection as well as municipal conduits. This contributes to a short, direct and smooth flow of the new road link of regional significance and an opportunity of an effective connection in the north and south to the main road. The project also ensures a good traffic connection of the development or potentially development areas and the traffic connection also became safer.

The Slovenian Roads Agency is responsible for the implementation of the project which can provide more information about the project.
