EU funds for Nova Gorica Emergency Centre
The investment, covering the construction of the emergency centre, the operating block and connective wing, will be implemented as a construction of a new facility or connective wing built as an extension of the existing buildings (the main and the old building of the dr. Franc Derganc Nova Gorica General Hospital).
The aim of the project is to establish modern conditions for the implementation of emergency medical services in the statistical region Goriška, including the integration of primary and hospital emergency departments in a single place. The aim is to provide medical treatment of patients in a single place as well as to improve diagnostic and therapeutic treatment.
In addition to creating new space and enhancing efficiency in terms of organisation, the investment will also build the staff’s capacity to perform more emergency procedures also due to the inclusion of emergency assistance providers at the primary level. This will shorten the waiting periods and inpatient length of stay, as well as improve the efficiency of medical care. The project will also improve the accessibility and raise the professional level in terms of providing continuous medical treatment for users of emergency medical services to the gravitational area of the dr. Franca Derganc Nova Gorica General Hospital, which comprises nine municipalities.
